Why JitzGripz

Built for grapplers. Not generic sports gear.

Most training gear isn’t designed specifically for jiu-jitsu.
It’s often adapted from other sports — not built for constant gripping, pulling, and fighting for control.

JitzGripz was created to change that.

  • Designed for BJJ grips (gi & no-gi)

  • Built to handle sweat, friction, and hard rolls

  • Supports joints without restricting movement

  • Helps protect your hands and maintain grip strength

  • Trusted by grapplers who train consistently

Why regular gear falls short on the mats

If you’ve trained long enough, you’ve likely experienced it:

  • Tape slipping when sweaty

  • Tape loosening or unravelling mid-roll

  • Narrow rolls bunching up and becoming uncomfortable

  • Grip trainers tearing or wearing out quickly

Most of it simply isn’t built for the demands of grappling.

What makes JitzGripz different

Everything we make is designed specifically for jiu-jitsu — not repurposed from other sports.

Finger Tape

  • Woven cotton for a natural feel

  • Zinc oxide adhesive (strong, but skin-friendly)

  • Proper width for fingers (no bunching or rolling)

  • Designed for real mat time — pressure, friction, repetition

Grip Trainers

  • Built for pulling strength, not just squeezing

  • Reinforced construction to handle load

  • Designed to simulate real gi grips

  • Supports recovery, strength, and long-term training

Why JitzGripz Exists

I didn’t set out to build a brand.

I just wanted to solve a problem I kept running into.

I’m Gregg — a BJJ blue belt from Perth.
Like most grapplers, I’ve experienced how demanding the sport can be on your hands.

The moment everything changed

After a neck injury, I developed nerve pain and lost a lot of strength in my right hand.

If you’ve ever struggled to grip properly, you know how much that affects your training — especially in the gi.

I worked with physios and therapists to rebuild strength, but it made me realise something else…

The gear wasn’t holding up

I tried different grip trainers — some failed almost immediately.
Others didn’t last long under regular use.

At the same time, I tested different finger tapes:

  • Some tore too easily

  • Some didn’t hold during hard rolls

  • Some were too narrow and uncomfortable

Nothing felt like it was made for consistent training.

So I started experimenting

I wanted gear that could handle real grappling:

  • Sweat

  • Friction

  • Pressure

  • Repetition

Something durable.
Something reliable.
Something I could trust session after session.

The early versions worked.

Teammates started using them.
Then more people asked for them.

That’s how JitzGripz began.

Built for grapplers like us

JitzGripz isn’t about hype or trends.

It’s for people who:

  • Train regularly

  • Manage injuries

  • Want to stay on the mats long-term

Gear that helps you:

  • Protect your hands

  • Build and maintain grip strength

  • Keep showing up consistently

Train longer. Grip stronger. Stay on the mats.
